Year Round Schooling

I created this post just to see what other people thought about this topic. I was wanting to hear pros and cons to year round schooling. I have heard paople say they would rather have year round schooling instead of a long summer break. I am not with them on this. I love my summers! It is nice to look forward to a 2 month break that you can vacation, work a part time job, get projects done, ect. I can also see the other side of the topic, where there would be more breaks, but smaller breaks. I have just always been up for keeping the summer vacations. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

  1. I am not quite sure which side I'm on. Obviously, since we are so accustomed to our current academic schedule, I think it would be hard to change. A lot of people hate change and would totally opposed to changing to year round schooling (until they experienced it maybe).

Personally, I love my summers as well. I have heard arguments that students learn more by having year round schooling, so I guess it ultimately comes down to what the goal is of changing the academic schedule.

In my opinion, I don't see it changing anytime soon -- and I'm ok with that! I think it would make it harder for summer plans to be carried out, but on the other hand, it would put teachers and students on the same "schedule" as everyone else in the world (for the most part).

These are just some random thoughts that came to mind. With that being said, I can't wait for summer! We are halfway there!

  2. One of the positives that I have heard about year round schooling is that the breaks aren't as long, so the kids don't forget as much as they do throughout at summer vacation. I am one to say that I love my summers. I am happy that we have that long vacation. It is something to look forward to, and is a nice break between school years. With that being said, I am also very excited about the coming of summer!!!
